Biding Your Time

If you are frustrated because your house has been on the market for ages and still hasn’t sold you aren’t alone.  Thousands of homeowners are stuck in limbo for months waiting for a potential buyer to make an offer.  While you are biding your time waiting there are several steps you can take to move the process along faster.

For starters, you can bide your time maximizing the exposure of your home.  Make sure your house is on as many real estate listings as possible.  You can also post ads on the Internet and in newspapers.  The more you advertise the more people will come to see your home; the more people who come to see your home the more likely someone is to make an offer!

While you are biding your time you can also make your house look more presentable.  Fix anything that’s broken such as leaky faucets or loose doorknobs.  Repaint any scuffed walls.  Try to keep your house spotlessly clean.  After all, nobody wants to move into a house that looks “lived in.”  You can even start to pack up your closets—a half empty closet looks much larger to potential buyers than your closet stuffed to the max with all of your clutter.

It is also recommended to have a good real estate attorney ready for the sale.  While you are waiting for the sale you can be working with the attorney on a basic contract.  It is also good to have a good attorney around incase you encounter any problems along the way.
