Make the Same Space Look Bigger

When you are preparing a house for sale, it is important to stage the rooms in order to give your house the best presentation possible.  One thing that is incredibly important to buyers is space.  It is important that you stage your home so that you make the space look at large as possible.  There are several ways to do this.

The first way to make the same space look bigger is by renting a storage space and beginning to clear out your belongings.  This serves several purposes—it helps you get a head start on moving, it makes the buyer feel as though room is being made for him to move in and also makes the rooms look bigger because there is less stuff inside taking up space.  Remove furniture as well.  Leave only enough furniture in each room so that the buyer can tell what the room is used for.  In the dining room, you can remove extra leaves from the table to make the room look larger.

After you have removed the excess furniture and belongings from the rooms, it’s time to de-clutter your cabinets and closets.  Remove at least half of everything from all of your cabinets and closets and neatly organize the rest.  The buyer loves to snoop into these little nooks and doesn’t know that this is actually only half of your stuff.  Therefore, it makes the storage space look much bigger than it actually is.

Another way to make the space inside your home look larger is by putting large mirrors in the rooms.  Mirrors create the illusion that rooms are much bigger than they are by reflecting extra space.

It may seem silly, but with these small changes you really can make your home look a lot more spacious, which can greatly increase buyer interest.
