Whether or not the principles of Feng Shui are something that you believe in, there is no denying that they can help you to sell you house more quickly and possibly for more money.  There are several Feng Shui principles that you can implement when staging your house for sale that will help you to improve the presentation of your house.

The first principal of Feng Shui that can be implemented in the staging of a home is cleanliness.  Clear clutter from surfaces, keep furniture to a minimum and make sure that everything is spotlessly clean—especially in the kitchen.

Next, you want to appeal to as many of your buyer’s senses as possible.  Appeal to their sense of sight with horizontal surfaces—keep all surfaces clear in order to achieve this.  Appeal to the buyer’s sense of smell as well with candles or room sprays—pine and cinnamon are both scents that have been shown to be effective.  Appeal to the buyer’s sense of sound with soft music.  You can also place a bubbly fountain near the entrance with some plants in order to appeal to sense of sound.

At the entrance to your home you should create a welcoming feeling by placing plants on either side of the front door and always keeping a light on.

Finally, you want to rid your home of all negative energies.  One way to do this is with mirrors.  Placing mirrors at the end of hallways will make them seem to not be dead ends.  Mirrors in any room will make the space appear bigger and create more positive energy.  Put all of the trashcans out of site in order to not turn your buyer’s thoughts to negative things.  Also keep all toilet seats down and bathroom doors closed.
