Trees, Shrubs, Plants and Flowerbeds

Outdoor landscaping is one of the most important parts of building the personality of your home.  It is the first thing that people see when they come to visit and will also make your home more appealing to buyers, as well as increase the value.  Driveways and walkways, furniture and art are all part of the landscaping of your house, but the most important part of landscaping is plants.  Trees, shrubs, plants and flowerbeds are the things that will make your yard really stand out.

When you are deciding what plants you would like to use in your landscape you will have to determine the location and purpose.  Shrubbery, for instance, is extremely common in front yards.  Neatly trimmed shrubs on either side of the front entrance can give off a very welcoming feel.  In your back yard you may want to increase the shade in your patio area, so you might choose to plant a tree or two next to the patio.

All types of flowers and plants can be used in the front and back of your house to create a welcoming and relaxing environment.  However, it is important to be sure you are choosing the right plants so they will last.  When you are choosing plants, you should be sure that you group plants together by the amount of water and sunlight they need.  If you plant a floral array that thrives on sunlight and doesn’t need much water next to a group of bulbs that need a lot of water to grow, you will drown out your flowers from all the water you have to give to the bulbs.  If you pair plants with similar needs together it will make it much easier to take care of them.

Finally, make sure that you design a landscape that you can maintain.  If you have very little time for gardening maybe a couple of flowerbeds that just need to be watered a couple of times a week will be better for you than a bunch of shrubs and plants that need to be watered as well as trimmed and cut back.

Whatever plants you choose, you can be assured that by adding plants to your landscape you will be increasing your relaxation as well as the value of your home.
