Default Winter Preperations

Well folks get out that pen and note pad and start making your check lists for this winter.

While the weather is still warm, it is the perfect time to go around the house and make a list of things that you need to do to make sure that you keep your home toasty warm this winter and prevent using more energy than needed.

Also the reason for making a check list right now, you can save yourself a bit more money as most items needed for winter are on sale in many stores.

Things like weather stripping, plastic, rock salt and so on are all on sale. Some stores don't have some of these items on display right now because of the warm weather, but if you ask for these items then chances are they will get them from their stock rooms for you, granted I don't guarentee this will be the same case in the stores in your area.

In my area most stores are willing to go that extra step to make customers happy with their shopping experience.

This year, our list will be a rather long one.

We need a new furnace, a new garage door and some more insulation.

Fall is the perfect time to have all of these things ready so that they can be accomplished before the cold weather sets in. Theres nothing worse than frozen fingers.

So, yes, sit down now and write out that list and go get what you need, then in September you can accomplish all of these tasks while its cool outside but not finger numbing cold.

I've been told that its always good to get the "guts of your house" inspected once every couple of years. Things like plumbing and ventilation are sometimes susceptible to the elements, so it's good to keep an eye on them.
