Default Vinyl Flooring

I have a question about vinyl flooring. My mother in law redid her house and when they laid her flooring, they didn't glue the floor everywhere.

Now, needless to say it is getting really big bubbles in the center of her vinyl.

I was wondering if there is anyway now to fix it or are they going to have to pull it all up, throw it away, and start all over?

She had this done by a sub contractor, and she can't reach him anymore, now it is up to us. Help

That is horrible that she isnt able to get hold of the contractor about this. Though I have had this happen to me before, and I was able to easily fix the problem myself.

I found out that air bubbles forming under the flooring is usally caused by moisture that is comming out of the subfloor or from below the floor and of course gets trapped in their.

The fixes will depend on how large these air bubbles are. If the bubbles are about an inch in diameter or close to, you can use a needle to puncture a small hole into the flooring to release the trapped air. Then just take a piece of cloth and a hot iron and lay over the area for a few hours. This will bond the flooring back together.

Now if the air bubbles that your dealing with are larger, you will need to place a hot iron on a piece of material first to soften the flooring then take a utility knife and cut an X shape in the vinyl flooring and peel it back a bit to release the air. Then I would suggest using a syringe filled with flooring adhesive to glue the flooring back into place. The syringe will allow you better control of just how much adhesive you use.

Once done fold the pieces you have peeled back into place, cover the cut with a sheet of waxed paper and weight it down well for at least one night. Once done, remove any adhesive that seeped to the surface.

It is really easy to fix this problem, and thankfully isnt a really involved project.
