Default Research Before Hiring Movers

People across the country are being scammed by fly-by-night moving companies that quote one price, and then refuse to unload the truck unless a much higher fee is paid. Others will quote a price, without even visiting the home to see what they are moving.

Quote:
LEAH MOORE and her husband, Colby Nichols, assumed they would be in their new Chicago home in time for dinner. Why would they think otherwise? All their belongings were in boxes, they had little furniture and they were moving only a few miles away.

Moving to a new location can be a very expensive proposition, even without using a moving company. Being scammed by a moving company would be a hard pill to swallow, after all the other expense. Beware of these scams and do your homework beforehand, to be sure you are getting a good, trustworthy company.

Even beyond the financial side of the scamming I have heard of moving companies that rummaged through peoples goods after they had them on the truck and also of movers who basically didn't care what happened to the items and were handling these things roughly. I would certainly investigate the moving company before they were hired to insure the price quoted was correct and also that my things were being handled properly, not thrown around and not rummaged through.

Thanks for sharing this its nice information to know. We all
need to be wary of others who want to take advantage of
us. We need a job done and they know it. I don't like having
a higher bill than I was estimated. They should give you an
estimate that includes every possible scenario.
