New Happenings with House Flipping
Hey guys how has everything been with ya and your projects? Things are good on my end except I have no irons on the fire right now. I have been busy with lots of other things going on so no time for renovations or anything right now.
I did go out and get some of the decorative things that i wanted for my bathroom. Thats been the extent of my creativity lately lol. I found a great deal on some towels and wash rags in the perfect shade of blue for my bathroom. I also got a matching trash can, soap dish and toothbrush holder altogether for just $3.00 on clearance! Oh ya, I love the clearance aisle! Thats my favorite place to shop lol!
I know that several of you have been talking about starting new projects since the weather has finally turned nice so how are they going?

Re: New Happenings with House Flipping
The past month has been a very busy one for us here, but after everything has settled down, we have been cleaning out the garage, the outside storage building, and under the back deck. What we havent used and dont see a foreseeable use for, we have pitched.
Also, I removed my Koi pond and filled it in and now have flowers planted in that area.
I filled it in with a large container of Chicken and Hens, and also a red azalea bush. Then filled in all around the plants with red mulch. It looks great and so much neater and no need to worry about taking care of that pond any more.
So with everything cleaned up and the flower bed finished, I can now continue to the large flower bed and plant the Hydrangea bush out there and get that bed cleaned up too.
Right now, we have no plans for any pending renovations, but that can change at any given time.

Cleaning the garage can be a job in itself! I dread doing that! thats where we put everything that we just don't know what else to do with! It just builds up and builds up and becomes a real chore.
I love the koi ponds but they are a lot of work. Flowers are easier lol!
Glad to hear that you have everything done. Now you can kick back and enjoy it!

Re: New Happenings with House Flipping
Lately alol I have been doing is working and on the weekends cutting limbs and trees down and back off of the house.
The trees over the house were rubbing and tearing up the flashing around the chimeney so of course they had to go.It was hot and a very strenuous job that the whole family participated in.
After all was said and done we kicked baclk and enjoyed dinner off of the bbq.

My husband is a tree trimmer so I know first hand how out of control they can become. Not easy to deal with either.
I am glad you got it all taken care of. The last thing you need is a tree ripping up your house thats for sure!

Re: New Happenings with House Flipping
I looked into a couple of different carpet cleaning companies to clean up a property's shag carpets that didn't need replacing. I was quoted a wide range of prices and options. Anyone have any experience with these kinds of companies and know what a fair price is? I'm leaning towards just getting a new carpet.

Re: New Happenings with House Flipping
What about renting a shampooer and doing them yourself. Todays shampooers and the cleaning products that you use in them are top notch and should be able to handle the job just fine.
If you have stains, try a can of mens shave cream, just apply a little to the spot and rub in well with a rag and then shampoo as usual.
And it doesnt take all that long to shampoo carpets. An hour or less and you are done and have saved yourself a pile of money.

Re: New Happenings with House Flipping
Mosaic, if you have shag carpets in your house, how old are they? I'd replace them if you can afford it--think of what could be hiding in there??
I'm going through a bit of fall cleaning myself. We have a large crawlspace under the house that is a bit of a disaster area. I really need to find some cheap shelving on craigslist so that I can get some boxes off the ground and against the walls. It's just so hard to part with stuff, even if I haven't looked at it in four different moves. I'm a huge fan of donating usable things, but I can't seem to part with the items that are useless to anyone else but me. Someday, when time slows down, I hope to open up those boxes and have a good time trying to remember why I kept them...

Re: New Happenings with House Flipping
People tend to seek out wood flooring more than anything else these days and for the most part they shy away from carpeting. Wood floors are so much simpler cleaning wise that I think thats why they are so sought after.
As Prairie said, who knows whats underneath of those old shag carpets. You might already have wood floors! What a find that would be to uncover!!! And even if you don't find wood floors you could install floating floors.
If you do decide to go with cleaning the carpets I would definitely try renting a machine and doing it myself first. So much cheaper! And the machines that you can rent are really good. They do a great job.
If I were you I'd go with wood though. Thats just my opinion and what I have experienced.
