I've used stuff called Sevin Dust. You can find it at Menards, Lowes, Home Depot, etc. It is a powder that kills many kinds of insects, and it does NOT list bees as one of them, but trust me, it does kill bees. The way I have applied it is with using a straw. I hold the straw with my finger closing one end of it and dip the other end in the Sevin Dust, about an inch deep. I then pull it out, take a breath in then put my mouth on the other end of it and blow it out over where you see the bees coming in and out of their hive. THEN I RUN!!! LOL!! As the bees enter and leave the hive they get it on their wings, then it spreads to the others and within a day or two they are dead.

One time I was mowing one of my yards and saw two big nests in the ground. The bees where everywhere! I didn't use the straw technique, just threw a bunch of it on there right out of the can...

Default Stubborn bees

A couple of years ago we had a nest of very aggressive bees in the overhang of our roof right outside our kitchen window. I bought a can of Raid Wasp and Bee spray and had to spray them for about 4 days to finally get rid of them, but this product does work well.

The reason it was so hard to kill these bees was partly the fact that they were so aggressive but the main reason was that they were behind the screened material that was on the overhang.

We sprayed a couple of times a day, they gave it a goodly spray at night when they were all in the nest. Eventually they all died.

Again, its called Raid wasp and hornet spray.

What kind of bees are they? If they are honey bees you may
be able to get a bee farmer to get them out for next to nothing.
Other kinds I use an ortho foaming product that shoots pretty far.
The foam really gets them.

First eliminate what they are after.Flowers?Standing water?I used bee traps made out of 2 liter soda bottle, any size or brand will work.Green and red labels work the best for me.Cut the top off just past the bend.I boil 1 quart of water with half cup sugar, let set till room temp.Pour into soda bottle and put the top back on upside down.Remove the screw on lid before you do this and recycle it.Watch the bees from a window that's close to their nest. They fly to certain areas. There may be many or just a couple.Place the bee catcher near where they fly to.You can hang them or set them on something.Do this at night. Also,if you're going to spray their hide out do it at night with as little light as possible.Wear thick clothing and have someone standing by to turn on the lights if they start flying.I've only had this happen once. The bee catcher works during spring and only with bees that use pollen to eat or build their nests.

You are right ben2go, night time is best to do any spraying as the bees are not likely to be very active, even now, while it is still cold at night is an excellent time to spray them many times in order to kill them and you dont have to worry about them swarming you while you are trying to eradicate them.
