Default Holiday Decorating Tips

I thought that now would be a good time to give everyone some reminders when it comes to their decorating for the holidays.

1. Make sure that you do not overload your homes electrical outlets. This is the cause of most fires in the home.

2. If hanging lights up outside, make sure that they were made to withstand the wind and weather. In other words if the lights your hanging were made to be inside the home, keep them inside.

3. Make sure that your decorations do not block the paths to your home, or sidewalks. This can cause serious injuries if someone were to trip on them hurting themselves.

4. Stick Candles. This is something that we use here to help light up our walk way for visiting friends, family and of course trick or treaters. These can be very dangerous, so make sure that when you are placing them into the ground that they are secure and far enough away from the path so that children wont accidently bump into them.

5. Jack O Lanterns. These are always a fun thing for kids to create. Though some kids tend to smash them during the night hours causing a mess. So you may want to consider getting artifical pumpkins to place outside the home. This is another thing that we do here. We also have the kids make their Jack O Lanterns, but they are placed in the window inside the house, for viewing.

6.Christmas lights are something that everyone loves to see, but to many on a home is not only an electrical hazard, but can also be blinding to drivers. So make sure that when your decorating for Christmas that your lights arent going to cause an electrical fire and that they are not going to be a problem for drivers.

7. On all electrical cords, make sure that the plastic coating is in good shape and no wires are exposed. Exposed wires can cause electrical shorts and fires.

8. Keep sidewalks, pathways and other walking areas free from debris. Its always fun to decorate and enjoy the decorations for the holidays, though you always want to think safety first.

These are just a few decorating tips and ideas for the holidays, and I hope that you will find them useful when you start your holiday decorating, and I wish you all very happy holidays!!!!

I am beginning to drag out all of my Halloween decorations so that I can get the house all decked out. To be honest though, I am beginning to get excited about decorating for Christmas. Where I work, we have already begun to bring out the Christmas stuff for sale and we have so many cute things. Christmas is my favorite holiday by far. The kids love to help decorate and we just really get into the spirit!

Christmas is a great time and its alot of fun to decorate. Everyone here really goes all out for the holidays. Mostly though for Halloween and Christmas.

Though just keep in mind safety first. No one wants a house fire or some other accident for any holiday.

I love to see the decorations, but I stopped doing much of that years ago. Essp Christmas. It has become so commercialized it is not fun anymore. People have forgotten "The Reason For The Season". It has became going into debt to try to get everyone presents. Give your heart, that is what counts.
