Default Help Permanent marker on new furniture

Well bless his heart. My two year old grandson just wrote all over my new couch and love seat with permanent marker. The furniture had be treated for stain resistance but of course it doesn't cover permanent marker. Does any one have any help they can give me to take it off or at least fade it out alittle. Desperate

Default Help Permanent marker on new furniture

I am not sure what your furniture is made of but I found this for wood and below for fabric.

Toothpaste and a toothbrush or a soft rag is the answer. Or check the tips below, for more ideas!

Steps
  1. Use white paste, not the gel kind, and simply put a small amount directly onto the wood furniture. With either a soft bristle toothbrush or a soft rag, start making circular motions and rubbing the paste into the marker.
  2. Be patient. You may have to do several applications before the marker is completely removed.
  3. When the paste has basically taken on the color of the marker, wipe clean and then start with step 1 again.

This is what I found for fabric.

Some of you are probably thinking hairspray, vinegar, dry cleaning powder, WD40, or even toothpaste for getting permanent marker stains out but if you are then you'd be wrong. I've tried them all and the thing that works the best on permanent marker stains is plain old rubbing alcohol. Hairspray is a fair second choice if you don't have the rubbing alcohol but it doesn't work as well.

I have thankfully never had to try this so I cannot guarentee it will work but it may be worth a shot. Good luck!

Default Help, permanent marker on new furniture.

The best thing I ever found to remove permanent marker is a product called Bathroom Duck. Just spray it on and wipe off with a cloth. It usually only takes a couple of spritzes to do the job.

Be sure to try on a concealed piece of fabric first, before removing the marker.

I have used lestoil on permanent marker on my wood table. Try that
or perhaps some murphys oil soap. Soak iit and then try scrubbing and
rinse well. These shouldn't fade the fabric but be sure to test just in
case and good luck.
