Default Help me please!

I was taking a good look at every room and my house trying to decide what room to work on. Well I don’t have a lot of money right now, and I did want to put a new ceiling up in my bathroom and flooring.
However, I don’t have the money to do anything that drastic now. But, I have noticed my walls and how bad they look. They need a really good cleaning.

My husband works in a factory and his little paw prints are on my walls in different areas. Of course where the problem comes in is, I love the color of my walls in the bathroom and I don’t think I have enough paint left to repaint it.

The real question I have, is there any way I can clean it? It is a water based paint, flat. I have some of the paint left that I used to paint it. Can I add anything to the paint to make it stretch farther if there is no way to clean it?

To clean your walls, try filling a bucket with warm water. Dampen a sponge (remove access water from sponge) and gently rub in a circular pattern to clean your bathroom walls.
If this doesnt work try adding in just a couple drops of dish liquid into the bucket, and that should get them cleaned right up.

As for making your paint stretch further, I really dont know of anything that you could use to do this.

Though if worse comes to worse, you could add in some white paint, though of course this will also change the color of your bathroom to a lighter color in the end.

Clean it the best you can and use the extra paint you have and a sponge and sponge paint it, the sponge going different directions helps hide a lot of things. This is a little trick I learned a while back. It works..LOL

Hi Closer,

I hear ya on the "flat" paint, my old place used to have the paint, and no matter what you used to wash the walls with all it does is take off the paint! I would just use your left over paint to "spot clean", once it dries it may be a little brighter, but not much brighter, than the rest but it will be clean, and thats better than "same shade but dirty anyday" lol

Flat paint is a nightmare when it becomes soiled. It is extremely difficult to clean. I think the best thing to do is to sponge it as eyeofngt said. I don't know of a single way to make your paint go farther without changing the color.

You could take a bit of the paint that you have to a home improvement store and have a pint or so of it made. It wouldn't cost too much and then your colors will be the same.

Thank you all for the great advice. I believe I will do a little of cleaning, then I will do what eyeofngt told me to do. I will take some paint and go over with a sponge.

I am looking forward to trying this out and I will let you know how it comes out.

Good Luck! I hope it comes out the way your hoping. I know flat paint stinks, but so many places still have it, i wonder if there is a "Gloss" topper you can buy to paint over your walls with that will leave that high gloss shine that is also easy to wash? I need to look into that, it would be a big help to alot of people i know.??
