Default Help Getting Rid Of Birds

Birds are beautiful in the wild. At least most of the time they are. Around home they are driving all of us crazy. First thing in the morning they are chirping usually waking us up not to mention the mess they are leaving all over the place.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of them?? We don't want to kill them or harm them in any way, but we need ways of scaring them off because as I mentioned already they are driving us all crazy here.

They seem to love the roof for some reason, so something that could scare them away with out damaging the roof would be great if anyone has any ideas.

The roof was sprayed with a chemical repellent that was supposed to keep them away but of course that only polluted the environment and didn't effect the birds what so ever. I don't want to try that route again. So any other ideas would be seriously helpful.

Well people use pie pans in the garden to scare away crows so that might work but then you will hear the pie pan in the wind so that won't do much good.

Here is something that I read about but it makes sounds as well.

Quote:
Another visual option to scare birds away is iridescent bird deterrent foil. You simply cut off strips and attach them to fence posts, trees or rooftops to scare the birds away. As the strips blow in the wind, they catch sunlight, producing constantly changing colors and patterns. And the tape itself produces a metallic rattle, unnerving birds with the sound too.

Thank you, thank you. You may have just saved my sanity...well what it left of it.

These birds don't really bother me, however they seriously disturb my other half. He even goes as far as yelling at them which makes him appear and a nut case to the neighbors,.

I will have to see if I can find this foil stuff to put on the roof. It does sound like it is something that will work and work well.

I want to get it as soon as possible so that I can get them scared away as quickly as possible. Again thanks a bunch for the information!!!

I personally enjoy the birds, but this seems to be a good site to help you.
