Default Foreclosures Mean Lots of Work for Contractors

With all the abandoned homes in Florida caused by foreclosures, contractors are kept busy trying to get them into better shape for, hopefully a future sale.

The house on East 24th Street was the worst of the six that David Law and Trey McCallister worked on the other day here. The front door had been kicked in so many times that the dead bolt was exposed and bent. Trash littered the front and back yards. A copper pipe was gone.

It's such a shame that, rather than help the people who were trying to buy these homes, the lenders would rather pay someone to clean up the mess, and fix them up after the looters finish with them.

Well, I have quite a few questions about the foreclosures and the contractors etc.

First of all, where are all these displaced people living now?
Are they living with mom and dad, other family members or are the rentals getting most of them?

Why didnt the lenders try to help these people stay in their homes? I believe in the long run, the lenders will be the ones to suffer because they didnt help, since the economy is in such a mess right now.

Also, why pay the contractors to fix them up when they could have used that money to help out the people that were having such a hard time making their payments?

Plus, whos going to buy the houses once they are repaired and put back on the market? Is anyone out there making enough that they will be able to get a mortgage to buy one of these houses, and if they do, will this end up being a repeat of what has already happened?

It is a really difficult thing to understand isn't it? I surely don't understand it, except for the fact that there was money involved. In my humble opinion that's what I think all of this was and is about. Money. Sometimes it just doesn't make sense.
