Default Dealing with rodents

Well its that time of year that mice run wild, keeping them out of your house can take some work. The best way is the old way, a CAT. Have to love them for that, they keep your house or barn mouse free.

As for using store bought stuff my favorite is just those pellets in a box, that you just lift the lid they will eat out of it, and die shortly later, always seems to work real well.

Some people like that sticky traps that they get stuck to, to me that is cruel, they can be on that for days before they die, probably of starvation, that could make your place smell before you find it, this is not for me.

I live right by a creek... just feet away. So every year around this time we will start to find some evidence of the little buggers. They don't scare me but I don't want them pooping and peeing all through my house! I always keep out the pellets and they work quite well.

We also live near a creek but dont very often get mice or rats. Only if it has flooded really bad or a really old house is torn down. Then we might get one or two and to my way of thinking one is too many.

Since rodents are disease carriers, especially the fleas and ticks on them, it is best to keep some kind of pellet or better yet, we buy the green bars and put them in the basement behind the washer etc away from kids and pets.

We also have 2 cats and I am sure they also act as a deterrant when it comes to small critters.

I hate dealing with mice and rats. We don't have much of a problem where I live, but at my old man's place they seem to be getting pretty bad. He lives on a hill not far from a creek.

What makes things worse is there are a few places around his house where homes were torn down and even where one burnt down right next door. Those places have some seriously high grass which make the perfect homes for rodents. Then when the rodents move in the snakes seem quick to follow!!

I don't like either species near me!!! I wish we could make someone come and cut the grass, because then the problem wouldn't be so bad. Though I don't know how to go about doing that.

I love this time of the year because I like the warmer weather and the sunshine, but with the good there is always the bad as well.
