The Unsellables
The Unsellables is a show about houses that have been on the market for longer than usual and what can be done to these homes to get them to sell faster.
This weeks show was about a couple whose home had been on the market for 4 months and they had even dropped the price but still had not had a buyer for it.
The shows hostess is Sofie Allsopp and her contractor is Anthony Sayers and together they go into these homes and stage them and make whatever changes are necessary.
Sofie said about the above mentioned home that it had been decluttered to the point of being boring. The fixes she and Anthony had for this home were to take out a hutch in the kitchen and install wall cabinets with more counter space beneath, and new tiling for the backsplashes.
In the bedroom, they added a tad more furniture as everything except the bed and a couple of stands had been removed. Then they changed the bed clothing, and added a few accessories for a completely different look once the furniture was placed as it should be.
In the dining room, they used the bottom of the hutch form the kitchen, painted it and used it for a bar in the dining room, and changed the light fixtures, plus some accessories for a completely different look.
The living room needed furniture that matched and for the fireplace to be the focal point of the room. A few accessories added again for a new look.
The total cost was minimal and the house sold shortly after the improvements were made.
