The Unsellables
This is a show about houses that have been on the market but havent sold due to several different reasons.
This weeks show was about a house that had been on the market for a while and had many people come to look at it, but most were put off because of the colors of the rooms and the way some of them were set up.
Some of the colors in the rooms included Tangarine, Pistachio, Reds, and Chocolate Brown.
This was the first issue that needed to be changed, so a coat of primer was put on the walls then each room was painted in a neutral color.
Some colors have negative impacts on some people, such as oranges and reds can cause an emotional impact with some people, whereas neutral colors are more calming and make the rooms seem larger and airier.
After the rooms were painted, the staging was done. One upstairs bedroom was a weight room with mirrors on two walls, the mirrors were removed, the walls painted and it was staged as a second bedroom.
Yet another upstairs room was repainted and staged as a third bedroom. Plus, the master suite was repainted and staged making the room seem much larger. Window treatments were also added to all three bedrooms.
Downstairs, the kitchen was repainted and left as it was because of all of the recent updates the owners had already made.
They had also combined a living room, dining room combo which made everything in the downstairs flow much better, and made it seem larger and much neater.
After everything was done, another open house was done and the people that attended were asked questions as to what they liked about the house since it was redone. Most people commented on the new colors and found them quite acceptable.
After the house had been repainted and staged, you could definitely see the possibility that the property would now sell rather quickly.
