Default Home Repair Permits

I enjoy watching shows on flipping houses, decorating and home repairs. One show that I like a lot is a show called "Holmes on Homes". This is a great show to watch and I have seen some horrible things that contractors have done to peoples homes.

One thing that Holmes brought up was the importance of permits when making repairs to a home. Some people don't take this route and then they can and have at times ended up with a much more costly mess later down the road.

Permits are needed when making some (not all) repairs because it helps make sure that contractors are doing the job they are supposed to and doing it right. It is there to protect the home owner and it makes no sense that people don't bother with them.

I have read that getting a permit can be a hassle, but I personally would rather go through the hassle of getting a permit and making sure that I am protected and that the work is done to the standards of the area.
