Default Buying a Home: Using Vision

I've been watching several of these shows lately and it seems to me that one of the uppermost things they have in common is that the people they are dealing with have no vision.

I see many of these people complaining that they don't like the colors - duh!! Do they honestly expect to be able to walk into a home and actually like all the colors of the rooms? I'd never be able to host one of these shows, because I can't imagine going to house after house and explaining to the same people over and over again that they can change the paint color.

The next thing I notice is that people have no idea what to do with a particular room or space. They can walk into a room and ask - what would we use this room for? Or how would I be able to arrange my furniture in here?
I'm no expert when it comes to this, but even I can see what a room could be used for and how a particular furniture arrangement would look.

Of course we want everything our way when we spend a lot of money on a home, but come on people, you are at least going to have to make a few changes to please yourselves!! I want to tell these buyers that it can be fun to choose colors for their rooms and putting some furniture sliders under furniture and pushing it around into different configurations until it pleases you isn't that hard to accomplish. Satisfying your own decorative sensibilities and then having someone compliment you for it is a very gratifying experience.

I couldn't agree with you more about people on these shows having no vision. Although to be honest, its more fun to watch the "dumb" homebuyers on TV than it is to watch the "experts." So I would take those shows with a grain of salt, you never know what is just for TV.

I agree with you that the "dummies" are more interesting to watch - but do the "dummies" have to be soooo dumb 100 times in each show? I mean come on - somebody tells me that I can paint one time, and I think I'd get that they mean color can be changed. These people go from house to house saying: "I don't like the color in here." I understand when they complain about the size of rooms, the houses' layouts, etc.........but that color thing gets to me.
