Default Losing Lien Holder?

I have a question about my mobile home and was wondering if anyone could help me. I purchased my house about 5 years ago. We paid it off about 2 years ago.

Now this is the problem. My sister loaned us the money to buy it. I had her listed as the lien holder to it. With all that money she was kind enough to loan us, I wanted it that way.

Now that it is paid off, and has been for about 2 years, she is still on my title as a lien holder. I wouldn’t think about it but, my mother-in-law’s house caught on fire and it just made me think about my personal affairs.

Does it matter if she is still on the lien? She is my sister and I know I can trust her, but I am not sure what to do.

This is just my opinion, of course but I would definitely have her removed from the title as lien holder. I'm not thinking about the issue of trust, but you never know what could happen in the future. If something should happen to your sister and she should owe some bills, you could end up losing your home. We never want to think about something bad happening to our loved ones, but it does happen. You should protect yourself, just in case.
