Default Law changes.

Is it me or does it seem that the laws are changing rapidly and not to the betterment of the housing market.

I mean we have discussed such issues as squatters and how difficult it is to get these people out of a home.

I am not sure that all of it has to do with changes that have been made in the laws themselves but in the people who enforce them.

I see it all of the time they are overworked, understaffed and alot of time without proper knowledge of said laws.

Anytime that you have to call for help and what is done doesn't seem right get ahold of someone else. A lawyer,a state representative whomever and see if they got it right. We have to protect ourselves and can't always rely on others to do it. They aren't always going to have it right.

That is some great advice. We shouldnt assume that the people we deal with are knowledgeable about the changes in the laws.

Many times, memos may be sent to these people and they are just laid aside until a future time to be read and most times, they arent read at all.

I think that there should be rules that say that companies should have weekly meetings if thats what it takes to keep all employees aware of any and all changes.

As you said, if you dont think you have gotten the right answers, call someone else. Find out for sure that what you were told was correct.

Thanks for the giggle hebrewhero. I reckon it applies to either really and it is really aggrevating to see either situation.

It is hard to stay in business when you end up having to spend fix it money on evictions and lawyers.

I hope that things will get better and that a little more time is spent on earning than spent on getting the bums out.

Do like a friend of mine did. It was winter and cold as heck. He caught them both gone and went over and took all the window out and the exterior door down. The tennants went to the law and they told him he had to put them back, then he ask them when and they said their was no law that said that he even had to put them back but that it was pretty sorry of him to do them that way and he told them that it was pretty sorry of them to not pay him his rent. The next day they moved out.

Thanks for the giggles Realestatehound. That was a little "cold" of him to do so but it did get the job done.

Some people do take advantage knowing that the landlord/landlady will have to pay out money to have them removed for non payment and it doesnt usually happen in a timely manner so I guess that at times these kinds of measures do work.

What did they expect if they didnt pay their rent and didnt let the landlord know why. Heck, he might have even worked with them for a while if they had just taken the time to talk to him. To not pay rent and expect to get away with it is rather redundant dont you think?

Most of the time people are so embaressed that they are getting evicted they just go when you tell them to get out. I put in my lease if no payment is made by the 10th they have 20days to vacate. Its worked for me so far. Its rare that someone wants to go hard. In that case do what you feels right. Most of the time if they dont have money for rent they dont have money for a lawyer either...Just sayin

Well that is true and most people really don't want to get the law involved. Its hard to have to throw people out but it is even harder to pay your bills when the money stops coming in.
