Default Things to check for before buying an older home.

Almost one third of the homes in America are 50 years old or more, so therefore there are several things you need to consider and check on before buying one of these homes to flip.

First off, the electrical system. The best thing to do in this case is to actually hire an electrician expert to check out the home. Older wiring can crack and cause fires so you need to be sure of the shape of the electrical wiring in the home before purchasing it.

Have the home checked for Radon which is a cancer causing gas that naturally leaks into homes from the soil. Some homes retain more of this gas than others so make sure how much Radon is being retained in this home.

Lead paint is another problem, and it was banned in 1978, but 98% of homes built before 1940 contained mostly lead paint. And since lead paint can cause problems with children and unborn babies, it has to be removed.

Another culprit to check for is mold, this is another disease producing problem and removal of it is best left to the experts.

Another thing to check for is asbestos. This product, if it gets into the air can cause lung cancers or asbestosis. Again, its best to have an expert come in and check for asbestos.

It is far better to have the home you intend to buy checked out before hand, that way you wont have to sink a lot of extra money into your "flip".

Two more things to check out in a possible new home that is aged a bit is the plumbing work.If the pipes are still galvanized steal or cast iron pipes then you will need to pay to have the entire plumbing system replaced.Theses types of pipes rust and will cause your water coming into your home to have rust in it and that is bad for your skin and hair and your laundry and more.

Another big thing to check out on a potential home is the foundation, look for any cracks big or small in the base of the home and then in the walls and ceilings on the interior or the home.If a home has this problem it will take lots of time and money to repair the problem properly.
