I've used some bleach and water in a spray bottle before but make sure it is well ventilated. Personally, if the property is in a horrible condition with mold I wouldn't bother with. It is a hassle and a health risk.

Great information thanks for posting it. I also have used diluted bleach water to get rid of mold. The worst kind of mold is called black mold you would need a professional to get rid of that.

If you are talking about mold in drywall, rip it out!

You’re absolutely right JaredfromIndiana if you are talking about dry rip it out. We had a major water line break in our basement and mold started to collect on the dry and we had to replace all the dry wall in the basement.

Did you have to replace ALL the drywall or the bottom half? There is nothing worse than stinky crappy mold!

Default clean mold

Last year we remodeled our bathroom we ended up gutting the whole thing because the previous owners of the home put a shower but it was just a hand held type and they never used moisture board so we had a job on our hands thank goodness we didn't have the mold thing going on but if we hadn't caught it when we did it could have been a mess

Nothing boils my blood more than to start a project only to find the previous owner did a half hearted job.. I could have said something else there.. You must use Green board in a bathroom always always always it will just mold and make a headache for later

To answer your question JaredfromIndiana thank goodness we only had to replace the bottom half of the dry wall that was work in itself.
