Default Upgrading a kitchen.

With the kitchen being the "hub" of most households, it is very important to upgrade this room in houses that you are flipping or in your own home, if you are just plain tired of the way your kitchen looks now.

You dont always have to replace the kitchen cupboards, you can always have the doors replaced for a new look or have them taken off and repainted or refinished.

Appliances are an integral part of the kitchen and potential buyers may not want "state of the art" appliances, but they will be looking for "energy saving" appliances which will help them save on their utilities.

Counter tops are another way to update a kitchen. With the newer countertops available, you can find something that will really stand out and make a statement in the kitchen plus make a savings at the same time.

Lighting is another factor when redoing a kitchen. Have lighting installed over the area of counter that you work in most often, and if outside lighting isnt the best in your kitchen, add more lighting to make up for the deficit.

The floor is another area where an improvement can be made. Wood flooring looks nice in a kitchen, and can really make the room "shine", but tile for kitchen floors these days come in a very wide variety and can be a better choice, especially if you have children.

It is important to take a good look at the kitchen of the house that you want to flip. Sometimes upgrades can be made that won't cost you a fortune, but that will be a big help in whether or not you can make a profitable sale.

Oh how i would love a wood floor in my kitchen!!

this apt. has a crappy, crappy linoleum...and i HATE it...no matter what i do, it does not shine at all....and its white, and the only way to make it look white is using comet..or ajax...and its a big floor, and when using comet, you have to wash, rinse, rinse..and its a pain..and then the floor is rough feeling..its white,,...but rough...i hate it!!

any ideas on how to make a floor like this look white, and stay white, and shine???????

thanks

We are going to have a honey colored Oak flooring put in our kitchen. The room is 17 feet by 14 feet, so this will entail quite a bit of flooring to accomplish, but with the oak cabinets, it would be a beautiful addition to the room.

As to your floor, there is a product that works wonders on white lineoleum, but for the life of me I cant remember what it is. It is a one step product that cleans and makes the floor shiny.

It can be bought at Lowes and comes in a white bottle, and I will try to find the name of it for you and post it here.

Kitchens are definitely one of the most important rooms of a home to upgrade when preparing it for resale. People do not want to have to do a lot of work themselves and they want a nice kitchen with all of the ammenities to cook in. This is one area you don't want cut costs in. You can make upgrades that won't cost you an arm and a leg without making things look cheap!
