Think Before You Act

Ok this is just crazy. I was talking to some friends and apparently one of their relatives decided to buy a home rather than continue renting. That is a great idea if your able to do it.

Though the house that be bought at the moment has 2ft of water sitting in the basement!!! This is not just water but it is also leakage from a broken sewer line!!!

He decided that this house would be a bargin because of all the work it is going to need to do. This was a finished basement and was set up to be rented out as an apartment. Though after the flood the owners decided it would cost to much to fix it up and decided to sell it instead.

Of course his wife does't want the house, I know I sure wouldn't but he claims that they can get a great deal on the house. Well the deal they got on the house was for $300,000.00!! Though the home is located in Chicago so I guess that might be a good price I don't know.

What I do know is that the cost to replace everything in the basement like the water heater, furnance, furniture and what not is going to cost a lot and that does not include the clean up, repairs and replacement of carpets and walls.

Personally I do not believe that they got a deal on this house and if they wanted to spend that kind of money on a place they could have found one that did not need such extensive repairs!!
