Default Renovations in General

Whether its a small or large renovation there are a lot of things to consider. Is the rooms u want to renovate going to match what u want to do in the room, Is it in your budget plan and most of all the cost, are u dong it ur self or having it done by contractors
By going through this mental process you can determine the items that need to be scheduled and budgeted for, as well as the subcontractors that need to be hired.

When developing a home renovation plan it is important to consider all aspects of the project. The more information you include in your plan the more accurate the costs and schedule you can produce. This said it is wise to mentally walk through the entire project from breaking ground to moving in. By going through this process you can develop the order and list of items that must be considered in a particular home renovation undertaking. In the case of building a family room addition, for example, you would start out by developing a construction list that would include:
 • Obtaining architectural drawings
 • Pulling permits
 • Excavation
 • Installing footing and foundation walls
 • Sealing new foundation
 • Backfilling foundation
 • Rough Framing
 • Rough Electric and Plumbing
 • Etc…
By going through this mental process you can determine the items that need to be scheduled and budgeted for, as well as the subcontractors that need to be hired.
Then there is the pricing of the materials you are going to need to do your renovation so a trip to a lumber yard or Lowe's is the next trip
and looking to see if needed breakers have to be added and electric lines need to be run or rerun so this is a major undertaking so do all your planning and budgeting before u take on this type of job

Default Re: Renovations in General

Even what seems like a simple renovation can really make a big pull on your wallet so take into consideration also problems that you may run into when making your plans.

We are going to have our basement floor reconcreted and then install a downstairs bathroom with hot tub so we have a lot of new plumbing and electrical wiring to do.

One advantage that we have is that my husband can do all of this work himself so we wont have the added expense of hiring a contractor.
