Default Remodeling a very old bathroom

Some baths do not need a added space. Powder rooms or half bath, children's bath do not have to be large to be elegant, functional and luxurious. Bright colors, careful design, durable materials make small bathroom a nice touch to your home.

Before your start your bathroom remodeling project, ask yourself few questions

1.Who will use the bathroom ?

2.How you plan to use the bathroom ?

3.Do you need to replace old sink, counter top, faucets, shower base, shower door, cabinets ?

4.How would you like your bathroom to look ?

5.What is your budget for the project, are less expensive alternative available for the wall and flooring, materials, fixtures, bathtub, shower tub, toilet ?

6.Do you want to replace old fixtures and surfaces or just re-new ?

7.. Do you need a standard equipment, or replacing the existing equipment that may require a special order ?

8.Will replacing the old tub, shower base, toilet require a major plumbing and electrical work ?

Do-it-yourself bathroom remodeling project may sounds easy and cheaper. In reality, remodeling an old bathroom can be a challenging task. Unexpected problems with old fixtures, outdated electrical and plumbing work could cause project completion delay, costly damage to your house. You may need to consider professional help for your next bathroom remodeling job.

The best and easiest way to remodel an old bathroom is to tear everything out down to the studs in the walls and redo the wiring first. Then decide what you want to put back as walls, sheet rock, wall board,etc...

Next you should decide on a new modern sink and tub if you can't use the ones that are there, you can always just get new fixtures and handles for them and that will give it a totally different look just by doing that.Decide if you want tile floors or just some linoleum for your floors.

Then I would pick out cabinets if needed or just one big closet for all of the things that you would keep in the bathroom.I would make sure that there was plenty of light for the shower and the sink inn the bathroom.

Finally I would decide what kind of colors and decor that I would want to go in there.

I have done all of the picking out for my very old bathroom but it's all STILL sitting in my hallway waiting on the husband to kick his booty into gear and get it done! I am so aggravated!

I also have a husband that can do carpentry stuff and have waited two years now to have my hot tub hooked up.

It seems that when you are married to someone that can do carpentry, car mechanics, and so forth, that they will do for everyone but us.

What we could use here are tips to get these men moving.

Lol Flippinout, you are so right about that! We need manuals for our "jack of all trade" husbands! How to make them work for wives lol!

He is currently remodeling a friend of ours bathroom and it's probably a really good thing that he is! She lives in a really old house as well. He tore out the walls and floor and came to find that the floor joices are actually sitting on the ground! Right on the dirt! Thats how they built the house I guess! After he ripped the floor out and got down to the joices he was actually able to pull them up with just his hands! They were so rotted out from being in the dirt for goodness only knows how many decades! So right now he is replacing them. He has a lot more work to do then he had initially expected but at least she will be safe now to walk into her bathroom!

So I guess it's okay for now that I am still waiting for my bathroom to get started. My bathroom might be ugly and old but at least it is functional and safe!

I am just so excited to see how it all looks and to decorate it a little bit. It's needed done for so long now. I am running out of patience lol. I need to learn how to do that stuff myself!
