In need of advice on flooring
Very soon in my home I will be re-doing my floors. Right now they are all wood floors execpt for the kitchen and bathroom. The bathroom has already been done the way I wanted it, though the rest of the house is in dire need of new flooring. I love wood flooring but its in not the best of shape, it can be slippery due to pet hair and I really would like some carpet put in. My problem is that I have two dogs which have short hair. This means that they shed a great deal all the time. Every time I sweep my floors it looks as though we have about 20 dogs in this house. Its aweful. I need a carpet that the pet hair can easily be vacuumed out of, anyone have any suggestions?? There are so many different types of carpet that it is quite difficult to choose which one is going to be the best for my home. Another reason I want carpet put in, is because it would help a great deal in keeping my home much warmer in the winter time. I already kind of know the colors I want in each room. Though finding a carpet that is going to release pet hair vacuuming is important and one that can with stand two dogs doing their version of the indy 500 every ten minutes. I really would appreciate any suggestions any one may have on this matter. I have look at so many carpets that my eyes are going crossed. I would like to have a carpet that is scotch guarded but I dont know if that is harmful to pets or not, anyone know anything about this?? I will also be doing my kitchen floor as well, though choosing a flooring in there is proably going to be alot easier than choosing a carpet. I know that alot of you who have done some recent rennovations on your home you proably have also chosen some new carpet. This is why I am asking you. I just dont know what to use. I need something that is going to look good of course, but something that is also going to be easy to clean and is very durable. I also plan on re-doing the walls in my home as well, though I really dont want to make that attempt until I have the carpet. This way everything will look good together. Of course I dont want to put the new carpet in just yet. At least not until the walls are done. No use in taking the chance of messing it up, but I have to know what is the best kind to get first. My plan is to pick out the carpet, purchase it, and then wait and have it installed later by a friend of mine who is a professional. So please let me know what you think would be the best carpet to fit my needs. I sure could use some help on this subject. Thank you all.
