Default Home Renovation Stresses

Doing home renovations can be a major stress load for people. I know they stress me out. There is all of the mess to deal with and the days of pounding and sawing and omg everything else in between! It's enough to make me crazy!

Home renovations can take a big toll on couples. This one wants this, that one is in the way and so on.

When the tension starts to brew you need to get out and away from the house. Breathe in some fresh air and think about the big picture. Think about how all of it is going to pay off.

Always keep in mind that it takes teamwork. Teamwork takes sacrificing. You have to be able to give as well as take. There is no sense in fighting over the color of the walls! Learn to compromise.

I found that it wasn't so much the back and forth about what to put where and who was right, it was that no one wanted to make a decision, or didn't know how to decide. The stress came from being so uninformed. How many outlets do we need? I don't know. How far apart should we space this floor tile? I don't know? What are your thoughts on where to put the recessed lights? Oh dear. And then you've got to play the contractor's opinion against what you feel may just be any easy way to charge you a lot of money. Blerg.

The funny thing is, as stressful and painful as a remodeling is, as soon as it's done, you forget about all the craziness. I guess it's kind of like childbirth in that way.

The only thing that I hate about remodeling is the cleanup. The dust and so forth makes me crazy cause when we do it ourselves did you ever notice that you are the one that gets the job of cleaning up? lol

As far as remodeling is concerned, we sit down together and discuss what we both want then make the decisions then and there and when it comes to the actual remodeling, it all runs smoothly and no hassle.

Also when it comes to kitchen remodeling I tell my husband that I am the one that cooks etc so I want it set up so that it suits my way of doing things. When he starts cooking on a regular basis, he can have the kitchen redone to suit him.

I want my office redone but at this point, theres not much point as we are reaching retirement age and I wont always be using this room as an office. So I guess we can cross that project off our list of things to do eh?

But I do understand where you are both coming from. Remodeling can be stressful.

For me the cleanup is definitely the worst part. And ain't it funny how fast a guy can get his butt out of a room once it's time for the cleanup!

I like how you compared renovations to childbirth Prairie, it is so true!
