Default Frozen Pipes

Why don't some people listen to good advice? There are at least 4 people in my neighborhood who have already had frozen water pipes this year. Over the last couple of years they all have had frozen pipes and it was aweful.

I know that several people along with myself informed them that wrapping their pipes with heat tape would help prevent this from happening, but they didn't listen and again they have to deal with the busted pipes.

I had this problem on year a long time ago, though I went and got myself some heat tape, wrapped my pipes and haven't had a problem since.

Just some people don't want to take good advice and once again they will end up putting out more money to get it problem fixed.

What is really surprising is that they have all spring, summer, and early fall to buy and install heat tapes and insulation. And both would probably be a lot cheaper during those months than during the winter.

The last thing a person should do in the early fall is go through their home really well and check to make sure that all pipes that may freeze has heat tape and to make sure that all the places cold air can come in are taken care of.

Theres nothing worse than having to do all of this stuff in very cold weather. Winter comes EVERY year, and still most people arent prepared.

I couldn't agree more. They always come to me for help because they don't have any water because they didn't take care of their pipes.

I would tell them to go buy water but they do have a small child in the house, and I can't have him suffer because the adults in the house aren't able to think right.

It doesn't take that long to get the pipes that need to be wrapped, wrapped. Really there is no excuse for why they haven't, so I don't know what is really going on. This happens to them every year and this year is no different than any other.

Maybe one of these days they will change, but something tells me that is never going to happen.

Their Aunt owns that house, maybe I should contact her and see if she can possibly make them take care of the problem or maybe she could get someone to do it for them. I know something needs to be done.
