Default Bathroom Remodel

Well I think I finally have everything we need to start out bathroom remodel. The thing is I have a decision to make and I'd like some opinions.

My bathroom is small, tiny really. You pretty much have enough space to turn around and thats it. There is a built-in cupboard in there for towels and such but it is tiny as well. It is so small that you can't even lay a towel flat in it when it is folded. It goes floor to ceiling but really there isn't much space for anything in it.

So I was thinking about doing away with the cupboard all together. It wouldn't add much moving space to the bathroom but I think it would make it feel roomier.

I have a space just outside of the bathroom where I could put a nice, larger cupboard for keeping linens and towels and such.

So my question is. Is it more valuable to have the smaller cupboard inside the bathroom or is it better to make the bathroom feel larger and have it outside of the bathroom?

From watching alot of tv shows and personal preference I would say that your best bet would be to remove the shelf in the bathroom and place one outside of it.

Most people want to have a roomie bathroom, granted as you said removing the shelf wont give you alot of room but it may help to make your bathroom feel bigger.

Though this is just my opinion as well as what I have seen on tv, in reality its going to be a decision of personal preference on your part.

It will be slightly more inconvenient to have the towels and whatnot stored outside of the bathroom but at least it will give a little more space in there. I have decided to remove the cupboard and the shelf. I think it will actually make the bathroom more functional.

One good thing about making changes such as this to a home, that if your not completely happy with the changes you can usally change them back to the way they were or possibly find a better way of arranging things to make the space more functional as well as keeping some of the space your wanting.

Having it right outside the bathroom isn't going to really affect the price of your home, but it might just give you a little more room in there.

A good idea for fixing this problem inside the batroom is to put abinets above the toilet to use for towells and such.Or you can put a line of cabinets along the cieling in the bathroom, ensuring that they will not be in the immediate way of anything.

Something else that you can do to make the bathroom feel a little bigger is to put up alot of full mirrirs in there,Mirrors almost always make a room feel larger than it really is.

Currently we have a medicine cabinet in there that is only about a foot long by 10 inches wide. It's way too small. I am going to do away with that and put in a large mirror. I am excited about that!

Okay so I have had the stuff we need to do the bathroom for about three weeks and I am still waiting on my hubby to get it started. I am seriously considering going in there with a sledge hammer and bashing up the walls a bit so he will have no choice but to get it started lol!

My luck, I'd just end up looking at the holes in the walls for the next six months lol!

Anyhow I really am excited about getting this done. It is way overdo! We have just had to put our money into other projects in the house and have had to put this one off. Finally we should be able to get it done. Well, as soon as I give hubby a swift kick in the booty to get him moving lol!

Wish me luck!

Good luck with getting the hubby into gear. I know that can be something extremely difficult to do.

Though it sounds like the ideas for your bathroom that you have are going to make the area look much larger than before and you alot happier in the process.

Good Luck and hope it all turns out great or even better than what your hoping for!!!

I am really p o 'ed (lol) at my husband right now. I am STILL waiting on him to start the bathroom! Everything is piled up in my hallway just waiting to get broken and in the mean time..... He is remodeling someone else's bathroom!!!!!

Some of it I could do on my own but not all of it so i hate to tear stuff out and not have a functioning bathroom for weeks on end!

I guess I will have to pay him to do it! Maybe if I am a paying customer he will get a move on! Then after he is done I can take the money back off of him for bills lol!

He does this stuff to me all the time. I am always the one who has to wait! Whats the penalty for beating up a husband???? lol

I just really want to get it done. I was all excited about it and now I don;t want to wait! Besides I have three kids who run through that hallway and I can just picture the drywall getting broken to bits!

Put a lock on the bathroom and dont let him use it at all until he decides it is time to start working on it. That might help. Though when it comes to men who knows, lol.

As for a penalty for a woman beating up a man, well chances are that he would be to embarassed to report it as most men are, so there proably wouldnt be to much of a problem there,LOL.
