Being an agent isn't easy.

Being a real estate agent isn't an easy job. I found this out the hard way.
There are many rules that you have to follow that can make you feel bad.

An agent can not discuss certain aspects of a neighborhood with you. I found this one difficult as I really wanted to warn people about some of the neighbors.

An agent only makes money if the can get the listings and make the sales. Most of the time I spent at the office was on the phone making cold calls. These are calls you make without knowing the person or whether they want to sell or list.

I worked a full time job and spent my off hours at my brokers office or out trying to get listings. After several months with no results and no paycheck I gave up. I kept my fulltime job however thank god or I would have gone broke.

Being an agent is awesome!! Oh, and it's definitely not easy either. It's all about being proactive, thinking outside the box, and making things happen. Sitting in the office making cold calls is not the way it's done anymore.

You need an internet presence, you need to be out in the public at events, etc, you need to utilize social media, etc etc etc. I could go on all day but I won't. It's all about putting it out there and making it happen.

We are up to a team of 4 full time agents now and we are everywhere. Local TV, radio, all the events in Fort Wayne, big internet presence, Facebook, Twitter, blogging, everywhere. It's kinda fun.
