Default Toilet Repair

Toilets that are not working properly can waste a ton of water and just become a real pain in the booty. The good thing is that they are easily repaired with no need of hiring a plumber which will cost you an arm and a leg.

Toilets running contantly can be caused by several things. First be sure that the chain is not caught in the flapper allowing the water to flow out. If it is, simply adjust the chain to make it a bit shorter. Check that the float ball hasn't become cracked allowing water inside of it. If it has, simply screw the old one off and a new one on. Water in the float ball will weigh it down causing the toilet to run.

If you notice water on the floor around the toilet check first for condensation on the tank. If thats the case you can buy an insulation kit to keep that from happening. Check to see if the bolts mounting the toilet to the floor are tight. If they are loose you can tighten them but don't overdo it because you can cause a crack. The problem could also be the wax ring. You may need to replace it which is a lot easier then it may seem.

Default Re: Toilet Repair

Toilets can be rather aggravating to repair,I find it easier to replace all of the tank guts whenever any of the m need to be replaced.

I also am very careful not to tighten the toilet down to the tank to tight because you will crack a brand knew one if you are not careful.

Keep the ring around the plug in your tank clean, any dirt around it will allow a leak.

We just had to replace one whole toilet and the guts of another one. If your toilet is old then you need or are better off to buy a new toilet. The main reason is becuse the guts you buy now will not fit the old toilets right and you run into a problem.

The newere toilets are fine to just replace the guts. And they are not expensive.
