Default Saving Money on home projects

Like most people around the world you may think that paying a contractor to do a whole project is the best option. If you are one of these people you need to think twice.

Doing small parts of a project can actually save you thousands of dollars that you would normally pay the contractor. Just doing most of the demo yourself can save you hundreds of dollars. Also little things like laying down a floating wood floor or going with a bamboo flooring saves in the long run and will still look as good.

If you have no idea of how to do so there are plenty of videos online that can guide you along or you can usually go to store like lowes or menards whee there is usually someone there that can help show you how to complete these little things yourself.

You are so right Flippinmad. The internet is an awesome source for learning how to complete any project. And contractors are out there to make money so don't think that you are only paying for the materials and work. They have fees for this that and the other. The more you do yourself the less you will spend in the end.... unless you screw it all up! Just do your homework, learn how to do it and never bite off more than you can chew.

Hi, I'm new to the page and I'm all about saving money on a project. I am just beginning to collect all my tools needed to do some of this work. Has anyone had any experience with using recon tools. I've heard there are some good ones and some bad ones as long as you get the MFG warranty with it.

Hi Scott, welcome.

As for buying reconditioned power equipment, I have no idea of the quality. I would say for sure don't buy without some sort of warranty unless you are able to try it before you buy it. I've never purchased recon. power tools before. I am sure you could find some great deals that way as long as you are careful.
