Default Reupholster Kitchen Chairs

It doesn't seem to take very long for the upholstry on your kitchen chairs to look worn out or to become stained, especially if you have small children. Table and chair sets are very expensive, too expensive to always throw out and purchase new when worn. Something you can do to freshen them up is to simply reupholstry them.

Reupholstering kitchen chairs is very easy to do and quite inexpensive. The first thing you need to do is measure your chairs to find out how much material you need to purchase. Next, choose the material you want to use. Keep in mind how durable the material is.

You will also need:

Staple gun with staples.
Cotton batting
screw driver
needlenose pliers

Simply unscrew the seat from the chair frame and use the needlenose pliers to remove the staples from the old material and batting and remove both from the wooden seat. Next you want to lay out the batting on a hard surface such as a table. Place the wooden seat, seat side down on the batting. Pull the batting tight around all sides and corners and staple to the side that will be the bottom of the seat. Trim batting edges. Next repeat the steps for adding the batting to cover seat with the fabric. Pay special attention to the corners of the seat, you want them to look neat. Trim the exces fabric and screw the seat back into place with the screwdriver. Repeat for all chairs. Done. Now you have what looks to be a brand new set of chairs!

You may also want to buy an extra piece of the material to create a matching runner for the center of your table.

Kitchen chairs are about the easiest to reupholster and is good practice for learning how to reupholster other pieces.

Once you've reupholstered your kitchen chairs, you'll be reupholstering them to match your decor each time you change the look of your room.

You are so right Missmanors. Kitchen chairs are very simple to reupholster and are the best to begin with. Before you know it, you will be re-doing your sofa and lazyboys too!

Kitchen chairs are easy..But when it comes to sofa's and recliners, that is a different story. I used to work in an upholstry shop and believe me it is not as easy as it looks.

Lol, it probably isn't as easy as it seems. Most things in life are not that way. I have tackled the small projects such as kitchen chairs and ottomans and what not but never a sofa. One of these days I just might give that a try!
