Default Mixing Paints

Ok I got bored earlier today and decided to head out to the garage and do a little bit of cleaning. I knew I wouldnt get alot done, but I figured some is better than none.

Any how while I was straightening out the shelves in there I noticed that we had like 15 partically filled gallons of paint (thankfully the garage is heated). All different colors.

Well I took some of them into the house and decided to play around with them a bit.

I started mixing small amounts of different colors together to see what exactly I could come up with.

It worked out really well, now I have made the perfect color to paint our guest bedroom that isnt going to cost us a dime.

Its a beautiful blue/green color. I proably couldnt have found this color if I tried and I did it all by accident.

Its really going to look great when I finally get the room painted. Right now its painted a yellow color which I really dislike, so this is going to look really good and it will match the bed spread and curtains that I have already placed in the room.

That is great homealone!! You will have a color no one else has..LOL Please take pics when you are done so we can all see it.

Mixing colors is fun to do, and you never know when you will come up with a color you just love. I love to paint and I am always mixing colors. Sometimes experimenting will get you somethng un-expected..

You have to be careful when mixing paints together.

Only mix oil paints together, only latex paints together, and so on. Otherwise you will come up with a wasted gallon of paint because you wont be able to use it.

I remember one year, I mixed about 4 colors together and came up with what looked like a very very light lilac. I used it in the kitchen and after it dried well, I noticed that as the outdoor light changed during the day, the paint on the wall looked a different color.

It was the neatest looking paint I have ever seen. I think I counted 7 different colors. Like I said they all depended on the change of outdoor light.

Another neat bit of advise along these lines, is to ,instead of mixing the old paints that you have entirely, take and partially mixe them, maybe half on one side and half on the other and with a roller you can do stripes,or with a sponge you can do two tone blots,or swirls with more than one shade in it. Kids tend to like this style of free painting for thier rooms.

Play with your paint and be creative, painting can be lots of fun.For instance take light blue paint and ptu it on your bathroom wall.At the bottom of the wall paint an uneven sand line with tan paint. Then you can get different sea shell and fish stencils and make yourself an ocean on your walls.

A couple of years ago I had found gallons of brown paint and gallons of a real light beige color. There wasn't enough of either one color to paint my house so I decided to mix them. One gallon of brown to one gallon of beige. It turned out to be a really pretty shade of tan. Best of all, it made enough to do the whole house and cheap too!

I love mixing paints it was alot of fun and yes I do have a paint color that proably no one else has in the world or at least close to it.

It is going to look great when the room is done, and I will take pictures of it so that everyone can see just how good this is going to come out.
