Default Furnace Filters

With winter dead upon us we need to do all we can to maintain our furnaces inside of our own homes and those we wish to sell. Nobody wants to buy a home with a poorly working furnace and one of the best ways to keep it running smoothly is to change the filter regularly. Not only will this allow the furnace to run more efficiently but it will also cut down on the amount of dust in your house.

Changing or cleaning a furnace filter is quite simple to accomplish. Simply pull the old one out and pop the new one in. If you have a reusable electrostatic filter you can clean it using a garden hose or blow the dirt out with compressed air. If not, simply replace it. A standard filter requires replacement every month. An Electrostatic disposable filter can last about three months before it requires replacement.

I'm amazed by the number of people that I talk to who don't change or at least clean their furnace filters regularly. It seems that they don't realize that changing the filter helps to keep the furnace working efficiently, allows the furnace to use less fuel, and keep the home warmer.

We have a propane furnace but we can't put a filter on it. The people who had the house previously broke that part. I miss steam heat it was always so comfortable and I could breathe better with it.

YEs steam heat is great and its great for my plants to. i wish i had it. now with this gas heat , my nose gets all crusty and plugged and the house does get dusty and i do change the filter, but i rent and the landlord has to hire someone to come and clean the vents, that is another important part of gas heat., make sure to have the vents cleaned every winter so not to get to much carbon and dust and dirt.
