Default Floor Tile Choices

It is so hard to choose what type of flooring to put into a house whether we are talking about a house to flip or one that you live in. There are so many choices available these days. Thats a good thing though.

About five years ago we put in those cheaper vinyl floor tiles in our kitchen. To be honest we really did get our money's worth out of them but they are really worn out now.

I had chosen the black marble looking ones. I loved them! It was beautiful. They were very glossy looking for a long time. Now though some of them look more white than they do black! I guess I have too much foot traffic in my kitchen for the cheap stuff lol. We only went that route because we knew we would want to renovate the kitchen at some point. We haven't done that yet but the time is coming soon! We plan to put in ceramic tiles when we get things going. I can't wait.

I have carpet in the bedrooms, hall and in my living room and I want that changes as well. I want to replace that with hardwood. I would like to be able to dust mop rather than vaccum all the time. I think it will be much quicker and easier to keep clean.

There are so many projects that I'd like to get done!

I've been using Slate Tiles from Home Depot

Everyone loves natural stone and right now this stuff is cheap, about $2.50 a sq ft at Home Depot. Use the biggest spacer you can find and dark grey grout, top it with a sealer that brings out natural colors and everyone falls in love with this stuff..

I've been using it in my kitchens and bathrooms lately and it seems to be the biggest selling point of all now.

Oh I do like that! I love the dark colors in it. I bet it's very durable as well since it's stone and would last. Definitely get your money's worth out of it! I think I will check this out and see what I like best.

See what I mean... so many choices lol!

Well I strongly recommend you for the floor tile you should to elicit big size of tile not the small size tile. Because its my personal experience that small size don't seems to be more accurate and ugly.

it seems that if u image using it as flooring u can find a way to do it i have a sister in law who's brother used slate as flooring he used a polyurethane to make it shine and when in place the floor looked like glass it was awesone could u just see a fire place with this sort of usage of slate as part of the hearth and then sand stone for the fire place its self and a dark oak mantel that would look so pretty so if u see it in ur mind u can make it happen so go for it

Hey, that sounds like it would be very pretty. And you are right, if you can imagine it, you can find a way to make it happen.

Visualization is part of deciding just how you want to redo a room. Right down to the accessories.

I had an idea of taking a piece of white lattice board and putting it on the wall and having my daughter paint vines and flowers around it and decorating it with small vines and flowers to match.

I can see what I want to do with it and I really think the end result would be very pretty.

My husband had our kitchen floor and my office floor redone but we decided to go with pergo instead of the slate tiles. I actually like the wood floors better than I would have the slate tiles. But then again, to each his own.

I had bought a Shark Steam Mop for my new floors but really didnt care for it all that much. This cleaner would probably do better on tile or lineoleum in my opinion.

Plus the fact that it did take longer to clean the wood floors and I had been advised that the steam could make the edges of the pergo flooring curl. So, I gave it to my daughter. She has tile floors so it will work just fine for her.
