Default Floating Floors

Most people these days want some type of hard flooring such as marble or wood. A great and simple way to accomplish this is to put in a floating floor. It isn't as hard to do as you might think. If you put your mind to it you can accomplish this task.

There are eight basic steps to installing a floating floor. I will add a great link with full instructions at the bottom of this post.

The eight basic steps are as follows:

1. Trim the door casings/frames
2. Lay the foam underlayment
3. Install the first course (plank)
4. Install the rest of the planks
5. Measure for the last course/plank
6. Cut the last plank to fit
7. Pry in the last plank
8. Install the finish trim around the room along the floor

Done... It really is that simple. They really look very nice when completed too and they are durable which is also important.

That makes the decision for my kitchen flooring so much easier. I love the fact that it is easy to install and it has a foam under it. It makes for a nice walking surface and the floor is warmer than normal.

My kitchen has lanolium and carpet and neither have anything under them. I hate it because the floors are cold. It also makes me crazy that the people put down carpet with no padding. I just know that the wood underneath has to be replaced. At least due to years of rug scrubbing and water damage.

The new floating floors are so much easier and more affordable than installing a traditional hardwood floor. Also, there are so many options, you can get any look that you'd like to have. They are beautiful and really can make an impact in the look of a room.

You can also get a ceramic tile product now that is a floating floor design. It was marketed as Kwik Tile. I think the patent was sold and it will have a new name soon, but a very neat product.
