Default Fix Loose Window Panes

If you have an older home as I do you probably have old windows. Some of the windows may have loose panes. If you can hear your windows rattle sometimes when the wind blows you need to do some repairing.

If you can hear them rattle it means they are loose and they are letting cold air in and letting your warm air out. There is an easy fix and it won't cost you an arm and a leg either.

A Rattling window most likely means that the glass is thicker at one end than it is on the other. All you will need to make the repair is some caulk, a putty knife, some vinegar and a rag.

Start by applying a small amount of caulk to the edge of the window where it is suspect. Use the putty knife to maneuver the caulk between the glass and the window frame. Be sure to get the caulk in between as far as it will go. You want to be sure you get it completely sealed. Next you will want to pour some vinegar on the rag. Use this to wipe off the excess caulk from the glass.

After the caulk completely dries check the window to be sure it is completely sealed. If not simply repeat the steps above.
