Default Wildlife VS. Oil Spill

This is just something that is truely heartbreaking I think. I have been watching the news regarding this oil spill and things are horrible. Though I have noticed lately that one thing which is the wildlife and how it is being impacted from this oil spill, isn't mentioned a whole lot.

The number of animals that are being impacted by this oil spill is something that is unknown and may never be really known.

One thing I did't know, yet recently learned about was that animals which are rescued from the oil spill are first checked for injuries. If they rescue an injured animal that animal is put to sleep because it costs less money!!

This really upset me because here are these poor animals who had NOTHING to do with the oil spill but are being murdered because it isn't in the budget to rehabilitate them!!! Then of course the ones who are in good health are cleaned carefully and cared for.

Reading this really pissed me off. These poor animals don't know what is going on and their lives are being ended because BP wasn't smart enough to have better emergency plans in place to prevent such a large scale diseaster!!!

i agree 100% with you! that is extremely upsetting knowing that helpless animals because they didnt plan ahead for something like this happening!

ive heard about the oil spill of course but had no idea that if the animals trapped in it that were hurt they got put down! thats not fair and yes we're extremely in debt but that doesnt give people the right to play god.

not trying to change the subject but thats exactly what their doing to older people now like waiting for organs and stuff if a younger person and a older person both need the same part the younger person will get it first because the older person isnt expected to live long enough to get the use out of it! thats ridiculous i think EVERYONES life should be treated the same regardless of age!

I've been watching some of the news on this BP oil spill disaster and following it on the weather channel since there's always some kind of update about the oil spill on there.
And I don't like it either that a huge amount animals must suffer from this. I wish there was a faster way to stop the oil from spreading the way it is.

My first thought was; why did they put out the fire in the first place if the platform was not salvageable?
I guess they didn't know things were going to be this bad and thought the emegency shutoff would stop the oil flow.
But still, they should have found a way to burn as much of the flowing oil that's possible.

I heard it mentioned a few days ago that they were burning-off some of the oil and pumping what they can into barge ships. But that's still not getting all of it.

Plain and simple they really should have had emergency back up plans in place just in case something like this were to happen, though as we have all seen and heard that was something that they didn't think of.

Now EVERYONE is going to pay the price for it all, and the animals are paying the highest price of all...THEIR LIVES.

I know that this is one company that will NOT be getting another penny of my money. I really don't believe that they deserve it. I know that sounds a bit childish, but it is how I feel about all of this.

I am also peeved that animals which can be helped and allowed to continue on living their lives are being murdered just because BP didn't plan ahead for emergencies.

I agree completely with Troubles, people are playing God and it isn't right. BP should not only have to pay for the clean up, help those whose fishing business is none existant, and also see to it that animals who are injured because of their mistake are taken care of and given the proper treatment that they deserve to have!!!

Maybe if BP has to pay enough out of pocket for everything, they may learn to be more careful and actually have emergency plans for any possible diseasters that may occur.

I know I will be boycotting BP as much as I possibly can.

They don't even have enough money to cover the damage that has been done. My cousin lives in Texas and she had planned a trip to the Gulf a while back and already had everything paid for so she went. She said it is just aweful. The smell is terrible. And you can forget about getting into the water because you are instantly covered in the oil film. Many of the beaches are already ruined and thats only getting worse by the minute. It's going to take decades and decades to recover.

Our children and the children of our children are going to be suffering from this disaster for a very, very long time. This also includes the animals who live in the areas covered with oil as well.

Either way you look at this life is never going to again be the same again. Life cycles of animals are going to be messed up and possibly they may never recover and continue on with a normal life cycle.

This oil spill has seriously damaged this planet and all those who thrive here. It is really sad and something tells me that BP does not really care. They pretend to care about those people living in the area, however I don't believe that they have a single care about the wildlife who are being murdered due to wounds or by being caught in the oil spill.

I only hope that oil companies from here on out learn from this huge mistake and make sure that this kind of shit does not happen in the future. Let's all learn from this mistake and make sure that something like this never happens again.
