Wink tips for helping the environment

Here are some tips for helping the environment, I hope you will find them as useful as I have.

1. Instead of using paper or plastic bags when grocery shopping, try using
canvas bags.
2. Turn down or shut off your water heater if going to be away for a long
period of time.
3. Set the thermostat to about 120 degrees on your water heater.
4. Set your refrigerator to 38 instead of 36 and freezer from 0 to 5.
5. Keep the lint filter on your dryer clean after every load.
6. When using the oven only open the door if it has to be opened.
7. Wash your laundry in cold or even warm water, instead of hot.
8. Unplug all appliances when not in use.
9. When purchasing new appliances look for the Energy Star label.
10. Switch light bulbs to compact fluorescent bulbs
11. Insulate your home as best you can to save energy.
12. Install a timer on outside lights.
13. Use alternative cleaning products instead of those containing harsh
chemicals.
14. Use traps instead of poisons for rodents and insects.
15. Use cedar chips or herbs instead of mothballs.
16. use yard debris in compost or recycle it at the nearest yard debris
recycling center.
17. Instead of purchasing items which will rarely be used, attempt to borrow
or rent these items.
18. Use recycled paper.
19. Use old papers as scrap paper when possible.
20. Use travel mugs in place of the usual foam or paper cups.
21. Use brushes or rollers instead of spray paints.
22. Check local thrift shops for used furniture instead of purchasing new.
23. Compost your vegetable scraps and anything else you possibly can.
24. Use rechargeable batteries in electronice which are used alot.
25. Avoid the use of cling wrap or aluminum foil, instead use reuseable
storage containers.
26. Use cloth napkins instead of paper ones.
27. Instead of using paper plates and utensils use your reuseable ones.
28. Purchase products which you will be able to resuse later.
29. Check your car for any oil leaks and always recycle your old oil.
30. Have your septic tank pumped and checked on a regular basis.
31. Install water saving faucets in your home.
32. Wash and dry only full loads of clothes. In the summer it is best to dry
your laundry outside instead of running your dryer.
33. Recycle as much as possible instead of sending everything to the land
fill.

Default tips for helping the environment

We need to everthing we can, no matter how big or small, to help our enviroment. Our world is in big trouble right now with all of the pollution, global warming and so on. These are great tips that we can all do to help save the planet.

I always wash my laundry in coold water, I never use hot. There are detergents you can buy specifically for washing all clothing in cold water. My clothes come just as clean and bright as those who wash in hot water.

Your right, anything we can do to help the environment is a plus. Another great product for doing laundry is bleach that is made to work in cold water. Alot of people soak their whites in hot water with bleach, now they wont have to with the use of cold water bleach.

Default tips for helping the environment

There are thousands of products on the market these days that are more enviromentally friendly then they used be. Just be sure to read over the label very carefully to be sure they are friendly. Some labels have been found to be misleading and are not really as friendly as they say they are.
