Default Throw pillows out of sweaters?

With winter coming to a end in the next couple of months, here is a nifty idea. Instead of throwing out your old sweaters, try to make throw pillows out of them.

I take some of my sweaters and cut them up every year into squares, then I sew them together. I like to use my soft ones. I put them on the couch and sleepy time for me.

I have also filled them with strips of my sweaters as well. It’s a good way to keep them out of the dump and you can change them every year.

I have to admit that I've never used a sweater to make a throw pillow. I have used old sweatshirts for this purpose though. I simply cut large squares from the from the front and the back of 2 or 3 sweatshirts that will complement my decor, then using the front of one sweatshirt and the back of another, I sew them together and stuff them for a truly cuddly throw pillow. Using two different colors of sweatshirt material on each pillow allows me to change the look of the pillows when I flip them over.

Of course you can also cut out shapes from a different color sweatshirt and applique it to the middle of the pillow to give it even more appeal.

I wonder, can you throw them in the wash and dryer ? Most throws you cant put in the washer or dryer because they lose their shape or the stuffing gets all messed up, but because these are made out of sweaters, which are washable, that would solve how to clean them without ruining them!!
