Default Studies conducted by the EPA

Many studies conducted by the EPA over the last 25 years have shown levels of over 107 known cancer causing agents in modern homes and offices.

The presence of these VOC’s are due to the switch from open windows to energy efficient living and working environments.

NASA research suggest indoor house plants may reduce the amount of exposure to common VOC’s you experience in your daily routine.

This research indicates the benefits of live plants in modern environments to help improve indoor air quality in any building.

Sounds like I need to buy some plants for my home.

Default Re: Studies conducted by the EPA

This is a post I put in elsewhere in this forum, it shows what house plants can do to help the air in your home.

Quote:
According to NASA, house plants will remove 87% of air toxins from the air in your home within a 24 hour period.

Plants can remove such toxins from the air in your home such as, ammonia, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, benzene, xylene and trichloroethytene.

It only takes 15 to 18 good sized plants to clear the air in an 1,899 sq ft house.

It is also a proven fact that plants can make you feel calmer and make you more optimistic.

Quote:
According to a University of Agriculture in Norway study, indoor plants can reduce fatigue, coughs, sore throats and other cold-related illnesses by more than 30 percent, partially by increasing humidity levels and decreasing dust.
Now thats a plus!!!

The following plants are most effective in removing potentially harmful chemicals-including those in paints, varnishes, dry cleaning fluids, car exhaust fumes and tobacco smoke-from the air in your home.
  • Dragon tree
  • Ivy
  • Ficus
  • Philodendrons
  • Spider plants
  • Peace lilies
  • Ferns
  • Chrysanthemums
  • Palms
So instead of all those fancy, expensive air filters, use plants.
I have most of the plants listed above in my home all winter long, and not only do they clean the air, they can actually help improve a persons mood. Plus, taking care of plants can have a calming effect on you.
