Wink Stop junk mail to save trees

Every year there are thousands of trees destroyed to produce paper products which are recieved through the mail. Most of these items people simply toss into the trash with out a second thought. I used to be one of the many. Not only was I tired of recieving things like credit card offers, magazines, and other items that I would never use. Though these items continued to appear in my mail box. I got tired of this and decided to stop helping these companies kill trees to send me a bunch of junk that I was just going to throw away. If you are also one who is tired of recieving this type of junk mail, and also want to stop the killing of trees for nothing here is what you need to do. Start by calling 1-888-5-OPTOUT. This will stop all of those unwanted credit card offers from being mailed to you. Though as for magazines and such, you will need to contact those companies and ask them to stop mailing these items to you. Another way to help remove your name from mailing lists is to write to the Direct Marketing Association. You register with their Mail Preference Service, which will stop you from being contacted from solicitors. The address for the Mail Preference Service is easily found online.
Not only does taking steps to stop junk mail save trees, but it also helps to reduce the waste that ends up in landfills, as well as reduces the chance of your ID from being stolen. It only takes a small amount of time, and you will be thankful that you did.

Most of these offers have return postage on them in case you should decide to take one of these offers. Most people, as you said, just throw this all in the trash.

What I have been told is this: If the offers arent taken, and you just throw that stuff away, those companies dont have to pay for the return postage. But, if on the other hand, you mail the stuff back, the company will then have to pay for that postage.

Perhaps, refusing the offer, but mailing it back to them will cause them to have to pay enough extra postage that they will soon at least reduce the amount of stuff that they mail out. Plus, let them get rid of the trash.

It is a good idea to send the products back to the companies, but the one glitch I see is that most companies that send out what we call junk mail do this in bulk and most likely wouldnt get the hint for quite some time. This is why I suggest that you contact 1-888-5-OPTOUT as well as the Mail Preference Service to get the junk mail stopped alot faster. The faster this type of mail is stopped the faster our trees are saved, as well as reduce the amount of trash being dumped into our landfills.

Thanks for the suggestions. I hate junk mail and throw a ton of it away like everyday. That phone number will come in handy and will surely clean up my mailbox.

Well Badmomma keep in mind that the phone number I listed will only stop those annoying credit card offers. If you recieve other types of junk mail you may want to contact companies to remove your name from their mailing lists, and also look into the Mail Preference Service, to help get your name off of mailing lists. This way you will be able to stop a whole lot if not all of those annoying junk mails we all recieve.
