Default Saving Snow

Here is a way to go green if your really serious about going green. I found out that a friend of mine collects snow in a pot and then melts it down and store it in old milk container for her plants.

This really explained why she had more than 50 milk jugs in her basement.

This would be a good idea as long as you had the patience it would take to collect snow, melt it all and store it in the containers. Though I have to agree it would save money in the long run.

Though personally I really don't think I would have the patience it would take to take this course in saving money, but I will say that this would be a great project for kids to do. It would be a good lesson on saving money while teaching them a little bit more about going green.

More than taking the time to actually do that the problem for me would be where to store it. I wouldn't want milk jugs lying about outside and I don't really have a place to keep them inside. My husband has the garage stuffed to the gills! It's a great idea though.

Your right the storage space would be a problem for many. Though she doesn't have that worry. She has an entire basement that she can store all these jugs of water in.

Though from she told me she rarely ever has to use tap water to water her house plants or her gardens outside through the year. Now that is a great idea if your able to do it.

I don't have the room to do something like this either. Though it would be nice to save on the bills.

One thing I will say is that the more we all do to not only help the planet but ourselves, the better off the furture is going to be for our children and all future generations.

Saving snow is well worth the time and effort it takes because this is the same thing as rain water and there are no chemicals in it and it is exceptionally good for your indoor and outdoor plants.

Ever notice how much better your plants outside grow after a rain and how much richer the colors of your flowers are when it rains? This is because of the lack of chemicals in the water.

If you do have to water with city water, put it in gallon jugs and let it set for a couple of days, this way the chemicals are disbursed and the water will be at room temperature, two facts that the plants really enjoy.

I just know what it takes to get enough snow melted down to fill up one gallon jug.

It takes a good bit, though usually around winter time there is enough for her to collect and melt down to save several gallons.

As I said though finding the room to store all of this water until Spring time when it is needed is the hardest part. Gallons and gallons of water take a good bit of space, but she lucked out because she has a basement that she never uses execpt for storing the melted snow.

Though for anyone who does have extra space, to do something like this is going to save money, create healthier plants, and help the planet at the same time.
