Default Saving on Home Energy

Houses can be a major drain on your wallet and on the enviroment. It's amazing how non-efficient things in the home can be!

The governement is considering adding new (or better) tax breaks for those who do things in the home to make them more efficient and Earth friendly.

For the most part, the best things you can do to get the tax breaks and help the Earth are to insulate the attic, caulk the windows and new windows and appliances that are energy efficient. Changing over to the energy efficient light bulbs is a big plus as well.

You can have an energy audit done. These are experts who are trained to come into your home, run some tests, find out how much energy you are losing and help you decide how to correct the problems.

If the governments new plan does come into effect, they may pick up the tab for half the cost of your home energy projects!

I can't see this happening, but if it does it will be great to help people with thier energy bills, or help them make a way to lower them.

It is great, I mean the idea of helping to save the planet. Though when it comes to making your home more energy efficient to save on bills....well that is just a load in my opinion.

In our little neighborhood there were 20 people who were having things done to our homes to make them more energy efficient. Of course our utility bills were lowered for a short time, but then just as I was expecting the bills once again went back up.

We were using less of course, but because the utility companies began losing money, they had to raise the rates to make up the difference.

So really the only thing that making your home more energy efficient for is the planet, because in the long run its most likely NOT going to help your wallet.
