Wink Recycle do's and dont's

More and more items now days can be recycled, though there are still a few which can not be recycled. Here is a list of items which can be recycled and a list of items which cant be recycled.

ITEMS ABLE TO BE RECYCLED

Old make up containers
Newspaper
White paper
Brown,Green or Clear glass
Corrugated cardboard
Junk mail and catalogs
Old motor oil (at certain centers)
Six pack rings
Metal food cans
Paper board such as shoe boxes and ceral boxes
Gable-top paper cartons like milk cartons
Plastic bottles
Old automotive batteries (at certain centers)
Aseptic juice boxes
Magizines
Aluminum foil (with out food residue)
Aluminum beverage cans

ITEMS WHICH CANT BE RECYCLED

Plastic bottles which contain hazardous materials or oil
Yogert cups
Stamps and stickers recieved through junk mail
Margarine containers
Plastic wrap
Plastic shopping bags
Phone books
Frozen food containers (trays)

When it comes to recycling plastic bottles, keep in mind that if it has a neck to it then it can be recycled.

Contact your local recycling center to get a list of items which can and cant be recycled as some centers do not accept certain items.

The more items we recycle the better off our world will be. Some believe that recycling is to much of a hassle. This doesnt have to be that way, there are ways to make it more fun for the entire family (just use your imagination). This is a great way to get our future generations more involved in the preservation of our world.

It is very important that more of our country's citizens get into the habit of recycling. Our landfills are being glutted with things that could be put to other uses, and this is such a waste, not to mention a hazard.

Recycling is not hard, and once a family gets used to doing those little things needed to prepare an object for recycling, it only takes a minute and before you know it, you don't even have to think about doing it........you are on auto-pilot!!

I wonder why some items cannot be recycled while others can, other than the obvious such as hazardous materials.

We do all need to recycle, it is easy as can be and will benefit our young greatly. You can also make money by recycling many of these items, even cardboard.. so why not recycle?

Wink Re: Recycle do's and dont's

Some of the items which can not be recycled like items that have had food in them, it is because of the oils in the food. It seeps into the plastic and during the recycling process it can contaminate it all. This results in an entire batch of material which could have been made into something new, unusable.
So when getting your recycling ready to take in be sure to remove any items which cant be used and find other uses for them if possible.
