Default Rags vs paper towels.

I have heard so much lately about going green by using rags for spills etc instead of paper towels and that to me seems redundant.

Take for instance the fact that those rags need to be washed in order to be used again, thus using water and electricity to do so when we should be doing what we can to save on all of our bills etc.

Then consider the germ factor. If I use a rag to wipe up a spill on the floor, I am certainly not going to use it on my counter tops, so into the wash it goes. That can add up in a day especially in a household with children.

This all said, I am sticking to the paper towels. They are more sanitary in the long run and much more versitile than rags. For instance, if I make a sandwich, I can put it on a paper towel instead of a plate, thus saving on my electric and water bill in the long run.

Cutting back a little on how many paper towels we use is certainly helpful. But doing away with them at this house just wont happen.
