Default Make your own bird feeders.

Our feathered friends can have problems finding food in the winter time due to all the snow and ice that have been happening across the east coast etc.

To make a natural bird feeder, take an orange or grapefruit and cut in half, then scoop out the fruit and poke holes in the sides of the orange or grapefruit halves. Thread twine through the holes and tie at the top. This is your bird feeder.

Now heres a recipe to fill it that even the kids will help make. Mix on half cup of peanut butter with 1 cup of either cornmeal or rolled oats. Then add in either a quarter cup of raisins or sunflower seeds or both if you like.

Fill the halves of the fruit with the bird food and hang out doors somewhere where it can be easily seen from a window and where cats etc cant get to it.

Give our feathered friends a real treat.

My grandson and I made one of these bird feeders tonite and it is very quick and easy to do. Tomorrow I will hang it outside off of the deck where the kids and I can enjoy watching the birds enjoy their feast.

Another use for those orange peels is to put them in a pan of water with some cinnamon. Let it boil and enjoy the scents that waft through your home. We sure do, but smelling these fantastic aromas always makes me hungry.

Yes, you are right, sharing with the children will also help them in later years.

This particular grandson knows how to plant a garden, both vegetable and flower gardens. Plus he knows how to hunt and fish. So this boy will never go hungry and neither will his family.

I have 2 grandsons that share all these same passions as I do. So they both have it made for life and will more easily be able to survive hardtimes if they happen to have some as adults.
